It all starts here…
Hello, and welcome to my very first blog! Where do I begin?
Here marks the start of me making a dive into the world of illustration. I have been working on creating a digital portfolio for about a year now, and while I have produced a number of pieces that I am pleased with, I feel that there is always room for development and I can see my work evolving with each piece that I create.
As well as finding digital work on here, you’ll also notice some traditionally created pieces.
I’ve always primarily been a pencil artist…this is a medium that I’ve always found relaxing to use and one that I have been able to completely lose myself in, whilst capturing the most intricate details and textures. And of course, they are easy to get out and pack away!
My digital style is very different to my traditional pencil drawings, however I try to bring aspects of my traditional work into my digital pieces. There is an element of realism to my digital work, but in a more relaxed sense than that of my traditionally drawn pieces. And, whether digitally or traditionally produced, I love to show off those tiny details and textures that sometimes go unnoticed in everyday life.
At the moment I’m splitting my time between being a mum to three wild, nature loving kids, and illustrating my very own children’s book, which I hope to submit to publishers very soon, so watch this space!
My hope is that I will use this blog space to document my journey into becoming a full time illustrator, so stay tuned if you’re interested in that, or share it with others who you think may be interested.
I’ll keep this first post short and sweet, so that’s all for now, but please check back soon for my next posts on planning my portfolio, how I designed my website, and more…
